Finding strength to

overcome

Sometimes, we don’t know where to turn when we’re dealing with, or processing something that’s affecting our day-to-day life. Trauma and emotional stress is a heavy load to bear, and I’ve been there.

Hi, I'm Mike, and I first developed trauma about 25 years ago in a near-drowning accident at the age of 5 (you can read more about my story on the About Page). I also had a very abusive father who made me feel unsafe, and like I couldn't openly share or talk about the emotions I was feeling. Had he seen the damage he was doing, I don't think he would've even acknowledged it, so, to survive, I hid my true self and buried my feelings for many years.

Fast-forwarding through lots of therapy and personal work, I'm proud to say that I'm in a much better, healthier place with my mental health. I maintain this site with the hope of helping others like me who may be knowingly, or unknowingly living with some form of trauma.

So, if you find yourself asking things like:

  • How can I recognize something no one looks for and no one understands?
  • How do I deal with something people don’t want to or like to acknowledge?
  • How do I know if what I'm feeling or experiencing is related to my traumatic experience(s)?

If you think you 're carrying something and finding that you have nowhere else to turn, I hope that you'll find some comfort in using this blog and me as a shoulder to lean on, from the nonjudgmental perspective of someone who's been through a lot and gets it.
